But then came one of the biggest challenges: designing for bay windows and fitting the mechanism into the windowsill. Equippd carved out a dedicated space into the windowsill to keep it hidden, without disrupting the design. With three custom blind sections that had to align perfectly, there was zero room for error – even a small gap would let light slip through and break the effect.
No true innovation happens without first understanding the owner’s vision – it’s the foundation that shapes every idea that follows. The clients had always dreamed of having smart blinds but never allowed themselves this hidden luxury – until now. It was their first experience, and another exciting mission for us: to make the blinds visually stunning and their control completely effortless.
The vision was clear: to create a home where history and innovation live in harmony – a challenging feat to bring to life! Every detail was meticulously designed to offer comfort, joy, and a timeless sense of elegance to its residents.
Who says modern and classic can’t live under the same roof? At this point, the Equippd team proves they can – beautifully. By carefully weaving top-of-the-line technology into the fabric of a historic home, we’ve created a smart heritage living style that doesn’t just work – it feels right. That’s how the smart bottom-up blinds found their perfect spot in the home, expertly filling the privacy gap and enhancing the space with a unique, intimate atmosphere.
By minimising space usage and maximising the fabric’s flow, the result is both functional and beautiful. Alongside the sage council and experience of Joanna Plant Interiors, we selected a mix of functional and beautiful fabrics to suit the application, Lutron’s 10% ‘Bistre’ was selected for the sheers, adding texture whilst retaining privacy.
This contributed to the rare combination of understated physical controls allowing direct and instinctive control of the mechanical systems of the house while remaining aesthetically submissive to the tailored forms and finishes of the interior.
Working on a heritage site presents its difficulties – every change must honour the home’s original character. Our team embraced this, crafting solutions that respect the building’s legacy while seamlessly bringing it into the modern age. Would you challenge that approach?
